In the News: Kimjang – Kohl einlegen, meditieren, geniessenIn

Riehener Zeitung featured our Jeolla Kimchi Workshop in their latest issue (July 31). The headline says it all: “Kimjang – Kohl einlegen, meditieren, geniessen” (Kimjang – laying down cabbage, meditating, enjoying). As journalist Sara Wild wrote, our workshop gave insight into “eine ganze Kultur” (an entire culture) while fostering “Gemeinschaft und sogar Weltkulturerbe” (community and even world cultural heritage).

Mama Lim led participants through her family’s Jeolla-style recipe with top quality ingredients from the region. The piece captured how strangers became “Familien” who “bereiten ihr Kimchi gemeinsam zu und verbringen Zeit miteinander” (prepare their kimchi together and spend time with each other).

Pretty amazing to see how this UNESCO Kimjang tradition resonated with the Riehen community.
