In the News: “Kimchi ist mehr als ein Nahrungsmittel”

We’re thrilled to share that our Kimchi Workshop in Riehen has been featured in the Riehener Zeitung under the headline: “Kimchi ist mehr als ein Nahrungsmittel (Kimchi is more than just food)”. Held on July 26 at the Gedenkstätte Riehen, the workshop brought together locals and Korean culture enthusiasts for a hands-on experience in preparing authentic Jeolla-style kimchi.

Led by workshop host Yang Hui Seo, lovingly known as Mama Lim, participants learned how to prepare and ferment their own kimchi using traditional ingredients directly imported from Korea.
Community in a JarFriends of Korea president Cherin Lim shared:
“The act of making kimchi together, just like back home, is more than just cooking. It’s connection. It’s storytelling. It’s cultural memory passed on through taste and touch.”
With over 60 members and growing, Friends of Korea continues to bring Korea’s living culture to Switzerland not through performances or presentations, but through shared experience.
